Forest Minister Govind Singh Thakur met, Union Minister for Urban Development (IC) Hardeep Singh Puri at New Delhi today and apprised him of various issues of the state. He was of the view that the delecate balance has to be maintained between the Urban Development and preserving the ecology of the state.
As the year 2018-2019 has been declared as the year of Himalya by the Government of India, the Minister laid stress on creating urban infrastructure that not only maintains but enhances the exquisiteness of Himalayas. He proposed and discussed various schemes with the Union Minister which includes infrastructure development for sewage connectivity in municipal areas of Manali, Kullu and Bhunter, providing CCMS based street lighting in municipal areas of Manali, Kullu and Bhunter. He said scientific disposal of household waste by creating facilities at dumping site of MC Manali, Kullu and Bhunter need for underground dustbin facility.
He further emphasized the need of developing the concept of Sky, bus or mono rail in the state to preserve natural beauty of the State. He stressed upon providing the latest parking facility through puzzle pit parking system.
Govind Singh Thakur said that some kind of de-congestion policy should be developed in the state which through integrated planning may take care of parking facilities, traffic diversion, Mono rail, sky bus, development of tourist spots, puzzle pit parking etc.
The Union Minister appreciated his view point and suggested that some kind of consultant may be hired for de-congestion policy. He assured the minister that he will consult the matter with National Institute of Urban Affairs to suggest suitable consultant.
The Minister also discussed about the possibilities of installing solid waste management system at Manali, possibly swachh Bharat Mission.
The Minister also took up the cause of transport department with Union Minister. He said that the Government of India had provided the buses to the state under JnNURM, but remaining amount of Rs.19,76,92,570-00 still remains to be released at the earliest. The Union Minister assured that he will discuss the matter with the concerned officials and will expedite the release.
